Easy homemade play dough

Make your play dough yourself together with your children. Here is my recipe for easy homemade play dough

The modeling play dough is super easy to make yourself and it’s cheap compared to buying and I like that I know what the modeling wax is made of.

For a large portion of play dough

Ingredients

2 dl salt
5 dl flour
2 tablespoons citric acid, approved for food use
1 tsp oil
5 dl water

Coloring paste or fruit coloring
Liewood earl stamps

How to do

  1. Put all the ingredients in a saucepan and cook, stirring, for about 3 minutes.
  2. Take the pan off the heat and let it cool. It might seem a little too wet in texture now that it’s hot, but that changes when it gets cooler.
  3. When the temperature is suitable to work with, the modeling play dough can be thoroughly divided into portions and kneaded with food coloring or coloring paste (I recommend that you use a pair of plastic gloves).

The modeling wax can be stored in an airtight glass and reused again and again. I would think it can survive for at least a month (but then the colors are probably also getting pretty muddy when they are mixed together in the play, again and again)
